How DVG startedServing the Greater St Francis Area in times of crisis.

We were established in 2013 as Friends of St Francis Fire & Rescue (FOSSFAR) just after the devastating St Francis fires in 2012. We have subsequently attended to each of the 4 major fires (2012, 2016, 2018, 2019) with front line fire fighters, traffic control, medical support, food relief, beds and bedding supplies, donated clothing and other distributions etc. In 2020 we tackled our first "non-fire" event by co-operating with our Kouga Municipality in Covid-19 education and with soap distribution. But it soon turned into food relief to more than 1800 desperate households, with more than 6200 food parcels distributed to our local Sea Vista community.

The Mission StatementFundraising, coordination and support.

The Association is a non-profit organization and its purpose is to engage in public benefit activities under the category of Welfare and Humanitarian activities as approved in section 18A of the Income Tax act of 58 of 1962. The DVG is a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) which enables our benefactors who have made bona fide donations to our PBO to claim a tax deduction after receiving a Section 18A certificate. Our PBO registration number is 930082761.

The main objective of the Association is to raise funds for fire fighting equipment, and clothing and other resources as may be required to serve the St Francis Bay and Cape St Francis Community and to assist in a supportive capacity in the event of a disaster.

To provide friendly and accessible focal point of contact between the local community and St Francis Fire Department.
To promote and raise fire safety awareness within all sectors of the community.
To work in partnership with St Francis Fire Department and their progress toward Fire Safety society.
